Howdy,
the whole event went great, a lot of nice ideas made into reality this past week and a good turnout from the industry mentors and other people to see what nextleveldundee has to offer.
ive learned a lot and im considering now to learn c sharp or c++ just so I can have more control over the audio as it wasnt too well presented as it was it had to go thro a mastering session I felt after implementation to get the balance right - but I didnt get the chance but know now :)
our game went smoothly without glitches (except that one gargoyle who refused to die) and I was glad I could help out, the artists and programmers did a great job I must say pulling this together and I kinda felt like I was sullying it with the audio but it had to be put into context for example - your a tiny guy in a tomb looking for an artifact, which was a laser gun now that sounds ok if it had a story line to detail this wide gap in technology with the rugged scene of a 'cave' it was in but people at the presentation didnt get any story and when the laser sounds came out of that gun against skeletons and gargoyles it didnt seem right at all - cringe.
what I could have done better was to forcebly get what I wanted with the audio done - music changes, the enemies actually having their noises played, footsteps softened etc etc, so all noted for next time :) oh and to have a constant updated version of the game with me so I could input my audio how I liked it.
